Research

The Landsward Institute's mission is to link the research needs of our partners with researchers at Northern Arizona University and other institutions to guide sound, science-based management of the region’s land, people and resources.

The Landsward Institute conducts a wide variety of research projects including inventory and research along the San Juan River corridor, avian and bat surveys at proposed wind farms, and avian surveys at Fossil Creek and on the Spur Land and Cattle Company’s holdings. Landsward Institute is also engaged in social and economic research including evaluation of ecosystem services of the Verde River, assessment of the economic impact of renewable energy, and Arizona Attitudes—a diverse research program exploring Arizona policy issues and public attitudes as well as increasing access to research on a range of topics of public interest.
